On Wednesday, December 15, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) proclaimed the “Super Saver” travel plan for mobile ticketing and smartcard passes, mentioned reports. From the 72 new plans on offer, travellers can pick a plan that suits their needs.

Travellers can purchase the new plans on the BEST mobile app as well as the bus smartcard which will be launched in a few days, said officials. Currently, distance-based, stop-to-stop passes are available. Previously, travellers had to select a specific commencing and ending stop. They could only travel between these two and had to also select between AC and non-AC buses.
BEST General Manager, Lokesh Chandra, was quoted by reports elaborating on how with the Super Saver Plan, travellers can travel anywhere on the BEST’s network that includes from any stop to any stop with the fare stage they selected.
Chandra added that passengers will have the flexibility to use AC or NON-AC buses provided the fare stage of their plan is applicable for the journey. According to him, this initiative will provide greater choice and flexibility.
Alongside the Super Savers plan, the prevalent unlimited distance passes and student passes will continue. Each plan provides travellers with a set number of journeys for a fixed rate. Prices are low as INR 1.99 per trip, based on an amalgamation of fare stage, number of journeys and plan’s duration.
Starting from a one-day plan they go to 84 days, as well as from 2 to 150 trips. This initiative is under the digitization project undertaken at BEST undertaken for the National Common Mobility Card- complaint digital ticket answer.
