BEST Workers' Union has decided to go ahead with a strike Thursday onwards as their meeting with the BMC administration fell out when the administration did not budge from their decision of planning to hire buses on wet-lease from private contractors.

A meeting took place between BEST administration and union members to talk about the same in the presence of BEST Committee's president Anil Kokil, but nothing fruitful came out of the meeting.

Meanwhile, the union is hopeful that the Brihanmumbai’s Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) commissioner Ajoy Mehta will come out with some solution, which might change the mind of union workers.

On Monday, when the BEST committee gave a green signal to the administration’s proposal to hire 450 smaller buses, including 200 minibusses on a wet lease which will be hired from a private contractor, this enraged the union workers.

32,000 BEST employees will be participating in this strike. The BEST committee took the lead and took a meeting at 3:00 pm to stop this collapse. The meeting was held in the presence of BEST Committee Chairman Anil Kokil, the employees demanded to withdraw the decision of privatisation, but it did not work out.
