Central Railway (CR)’s Business Development Unit at Bhiwandi Road and Jalgaon station have  shown an encouraging performance during the period from April to August 2023.

Parcel Wagons are attached to Parcel Trains departing Bhiwandi Road and Jalgaon for destinations like Sankrail & Azra.

During the period April to August 2023, a total of 22,541 tonnes of parcel in 14.50 lakh packages have been dispatched from Bhiwandi and Jalgaon (Coaches are attached from Jalgaon to Parcel Trains starting from Bhiwandi) registering earnings of INR 12.38 crores.

This is a significant increase from a total of 19,183 tonnes in 12.32 lakh packages with earnings of INR 9.84 crores during the corresponding period of April to August 2022.

Among the various items sent during the period April to August 2023, Sankrail station tops the list with a dispatch of 18,200 tonnes of parcel in 11.54 lakh packages registering revenue of INR 9.92 crores followed by Azra station with a dispatch of 4,341 tonnes of parcel in 2.96  lakh packages registering revenue of INR 2.46 crores.

The items sent include Furniture, Refrigerators, Television sets, Washing Machines, Air-conditioners, Mixer-grinders, Music systems, Computers and other electronic items, food items, food products, medicines, plastic items, bags, stationery, lubricant oil and cosmetics of popular brands etc.

Bhiwandi has multiple advantages like proximity to Mumbai and Thane city, better connectivity by rail to North-South and JNPT port, suitable warehousing and e-commerce facilities and adequate parking space for trucks and tempos. Central Railway’s efforts in the development of Bhiwandi has changed the face of Bhiwandi from a halt station to an Important Commercial Centre.
