Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has infused everyone’s mind with cleanliness. In order to combat mess, dirt on the railway platforms several steps have been devised by the railway management. One of them is recycling of plastic bottles which are found on the tracks.
Recycling machine has been set up at 10 western suburban stations which include Churchgate, Dadar, Mumbai Central, Andheri, Bandra, Santacruz and Goregaon.
Wockhardt Foundation has provided the machines. 20 bottle crusher machine shave been set up on 10 stations.
There is a very interesting feature about the recycling machine when the bottle is given for recycling, a printout is issued. The coupons can be redeemed at outlets with which machine provider has tied up for discounts.
The recycled bottles will be furnished to fiber-manufacturing companies to be utilised for clothes, carpet and grocery bags.
