The Kemps Corner flyover that had closed due to continual rainfall in the first week of August is to finally resume vehicular movement from today.

In the first week of August, Mumbai was hit by three consecutive days of heavy rains. Many low-lying areas of Mumbai were flooded. In most places, trees and houses collapsed. However, the Malabar Hill area was badly damaged due to landslides. In addition, the local trains had been disrupted due to waterlogging on the railway tracks. As a result, the Kemps Corner was seriously affected.

Therefore, the traffic police had closed the traffic on this route as the citizens had to take an alternative route by turning the vehicles. Debris removal work on this route was further started by the municipality. Furthermore, the municipality had erected a five-foot wall of sandbags and opened the road to traffic in one direction. However, the traffic on Kemps Corner was closed.

This was causing great inconvenience to the citizens. However, according to sources, the police will open the flyover to traffic from today. Vehicles heading north from Opera House and Girgaum Chowpatty towards Haji Ali on the NS Patkar route will now be able to pass through the Kemps Corner flyover as a result.
