While Indian Railways is growing gradually, it has always maintained its unique identity. For the very first time, railways are utilising natural gas in Matunga workshop. Matunga workshop of Central Railway which uses natural gas has become the first workshop in the country wherein natural gas is consumed for work. Now natural gas will be used to cut metal in the workshop said Narendra Patil Chief Public Relations Officer.

After the closure of LPG gas in this factory, it will now play an important role in Mahanagar Gas Limited and the Indian Railway Organization as alternative Fuel. Much work is done in this workshop on Central Railway with Railway Coaches. Earlier LPG gas was used to cut the metal. 36 thousand kg of gas was used for this. 

As this will be closed now, Narendra Patil has explained that all the works of cartridges, changing of parts, colour scheme and maintenance will be done in this factory at Matunga Workshop.
