Central Railway (CR) will develop additional 'home platforms' (two-way platforms) at Vidyavihar, Nahur and Diva railway stations by August 2023, which will allow passengers to board/board trains from both sides and this will reduce congestion, especially during the evening rush hour by making it more convenient for people to board and alight.

According to an official, the idea is to reduce congestion at Vidyavihar, Nahur and Diva railway stations and other stations like Ghatkopar, Kurla, Mulund, Bhandup and Kalwa.

The CR officials stated that these platforms will be 7-10 meters wide and 270 meters long. Work on each platform, including yard remodeling and construction of passenger facilities, will cost around INR 6 crores.

“The home platform would give passengers direct access in and out of the station premises without using a bridge. We are now considering space and other factors to implement this plan," the officials added.

This decision has been welcomed by daily commuters. According to the latest data, the average daily ticket sales at these stations are 21,534 (Diva), 6,244 (Nahur) and 8,526 (Vidyavihar).
