Central Railway to promote electric bikes

The Central Railways has decided to provide space outside eight suburban stations to operate app-based electric bike.

In order to improve last-mile connectivity, Central Railways (CR) has decided to provide space outside eight suburban stations to operate app-based electric bike (e-bike) services and permit app-based bus services from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CSMT) and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) at Kurla.

According to reports, CR expects to earn non-fare revenue of around INR 30 lakhs per annum by leasing these spaces. So far, e-bike services have been receiving good response across the city for last-mile connectivity. 

Moreover, Central Railway’s will operate Mega Block on its suburban sections for carrying out maintenance work on February 14, 2021. Meanwhile, the Western Railway (WR) has also planned a jumbo block between Mumbai Central and Churchgate. However, the jumbo block will be carried out from 00.00 am to 04.00 am. There will be no day block on Western Railway.

Meanwhile, CR has decided to operate Mega Block on its mainline between Matunga and Mulund railway stations from 11.05 am to 4.05 pm, while on harbour line the block will be operated between Bandra-CSMT down line and CSMT-Chunabhatti on up line for carrying out various engineering and maintenance work.

Dn fast services leaving Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai from 10.25 am to 3.44 pm will be diverted on Dn slow line at Matunga and will halt as per their respective scheduled halts from Sion to Mulund and will arrive destination 15 minutes behind schedule. Fast trains beyond Thane will be re-diverted on Dn fast line at Mulund.
