Traffic Route Changes on Thane Ghodbunder Road due to Metro Work: Ban on Heavy Vehicles

A beam has been installed on the pole of the metro line in Nagla Bunder area on the Ghodbunder route due to which there is a possibility of traffic congestion on the route. In this background, the Thane Traffic Police has decided to ban heavy vehicles everyday from Wednesday 12 midnight to 4:00 am to enter this road till March 23, while the light vehicles will continue their commute through the service road at Nagla Bunder. The traffic of heavy vehicles on this route will be diverted through the alternative routes of Kasheli-Kalher and Anjurphata and due to this there is a possibility of congestion on these alternative routes.

On Ghodbunder route, the construction of metro 4 line from Ghatkopar to Gaimukh is being done via the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The work of installing the beam on the metro pole in Nagla Bunder area on this route will be taken up from Wednesday (March 15) night. As the work of installing the beam will be done at night time, this can lead to traffic congestion. To avoid this dilemma, Thane Police has implemented major changes in the traffic route.

The changes will be in effect from Wednesday March 15, midnight to 4:00 am every day until Thursday, March 23. Due to this change, heavy vehicles have been banned on Ghodbunder route and this traffic will be diverted to alternative routes. 

These are the traffic changes

Entry of heavy vehicles plying towards Ghodbunder Road on Mumbai-Nashik highway has been closed at Kapurbawdi Chowk. These vehicles will go from Majiwada Bridge via Kharegaon Toll Naka, Mankoli, Anjurphata or Kapurbawdi Junction via Balkum, Kasheli, Anjurphata to the desired destination. Entry to Kharegaon toll plaza has been closed for heavy vehicles going towards Ghodbunder Road from Mumbra, Kalwa. These vehicles will go to the desired destination via Gammon via Kharegaon Khadi Bridge, Kharegaon Toll Naka, Mankoli, Anjurphata. Entry of heavy vehicles from Nashik towards Ghodbunder Road has been closed at Mankoli Naka. These vehicles will go under Mankoli Bridge via Anjurphata  to the desired destination. Light vehicles will ply from Nagla Bunder Seva Rasta towards Ghodbunder.
