There is good news for passengers eager to travel by train. As per reports, 200 non-AC trains will run across the country as per schedule, from June 1, 2020. Online booking of tickets for these trains began on Thursday. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal took to Twitter to share information regarding the same.

Online booking for these trains has started. A list of 100 trains has been announced on the PIB website for passenger information. E-tickets will be issued through the IRCTC website or mobile app. Tickets will not be booked at the reservation counter at any railway station.

Further, only people who book tickets online will be able to travel, as there will be no unreserved coaches in the train. Ticket prices will be the same. Since the general coach is also reserved, they will be priced at second seating (2S) cost, and all passengers will be given a seat. The advance reservation period will be a maximum of 30 days and these special trains will provide discounts to the disabled and some selected types of travellers.

The nation-wide lockdown was extended until May 31, and officials from the decision from the railways bring a sigh of relief for many. People can also travel using other modes of transport as the officials have lifted the bar on bus services and other facilities. However, implementing the same was based on state government, owing to the coronavirus crisis in respective districts.

Starting June 1, 2020, a total of 200 trains will run to and from Mumbai and other localities. The train service has expanded from 15 trains which were allowed earlier, but the new decision includes new and more trains, and also non-air-conditioned trains where passengers will have to maintain social distancing.
