Only passengers having confirmed tickets will be permitted to board these special trains adhering to all norms, SOPs related to COVID19 during the boarding, travel and at the destination.
Meanwhile, the state government and civic officials had earlier imposed curbs for passengers travelling to two districts -- Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg -- in the wake of rising coronavirus cases. However, after the opposition criticised the move, the government on Tuesday, September 7, announced the withdrawal of all the restrictions.
Every year during Ganeshotsav, a large number of citizens travel to Konkan, and considering the number, officials estimate that the number of COVID-19 cases could increase once again, as the pattern was observed last year post the first COVID wave.
However, officials have informed that the prevalence of the COVID infection has dropped significantly and hence if anyone is experiencing symptoms of cold, cough or fever, they should take care of themselves and act responsibly.
