Winter Schedule 2023: Mumbai Airport sees new routes as passenger footfall rises

As the bustling festive and holiday season for the year unfolds, it introduces a time of lively celebrations. This also foresees a significant rise in domestic passenger numbers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai is serving as a transit hub for all major destinations.

Mumbai Airport is geared up to provide an extensive network of travel options for its passengers in the upcoming Winter schedule of 2023. Starting from October 29, 2023, until March 30, 2024, the winter schedule will witness many new destinations getting connected from Mumbai on the domestic and international front offering more than 950 movements daily.

With an impressive connectivity offering connecting travellers to 115 different destinations, CSMIA is fully committed to enhancing connectivity and ensuring a seamless journey for all its passengers during this joyous season.

The passenger traffic in 2023 has demonstrated the industry's resilience and its remarkable bounce back from the challenges posed by the pandemic. With increased travel on both domestic and international routes, CSMIA is expected to experience around 8% increase in daily flight movements to and from the airport, vis-à-vis winter schedule of 2022.

Furthermore, CSMIA is expanding flight operations with new expected international routes to Almaty and Bali and Resumption of operations by Air Canada and Azerbaijan Airlines. Passengers travelling to and from Mumbai now have access to a range of thrilling vacation destinations, including Entebbe, Lagos, and various other enticing African destinations. Travelers can choose from a variety of destinations, including tropical destinations such as the Maldives, the vibrant cities of Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi in Vietnam, the idyllic islands of Mauritius and Seychelles, and Tokyo for a blend of winter sun and urban adventures.

Subsequently, Emirates also introduced its Premium Economy cabin class in India on October 19, commencing from CSMIA as its initial hub. The airline will officially roll out this cabin class starting October 30. Additionally, below are new airlines / routes that commenced operations during Summer’23:

 In terms of the airlines, IndiGo emerges as the frontrunner with a market share of 38% from CSMIA. Followed by Air India with 18%, and Vistara standing strong at 3^rd position with 15% market share.
