In view of the increasing congestion at Diva station on the Central Railway, rail passenger associations have taken an aggressive stance to start direct local trains to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) from Diva railway station. Also, the Diva Passenger Association protested by wearing black ribbons on August 14 to stop trains going to Konkan Railway at Diva.
Diva is a very busy station between Thane and Dombivli on the Central Railway. As the population at Diva has increased over the past few years, the local passenger traffic has also increased. The railway administration does not pay attention to control that crowd and prevent accidents due to crowding. So one has to risk their life from Diva station by hanging on the door of the local train. As a result, passengers have been losing their lives. Also, the daily revenue is around INR 6.62 lakh from the sale of around 1.26 lakh tickets at Diva station.

Also it is necessary to stop trains going to Konkan at Diva station. A large number of Konkanis live in Ulhasnagar, Kalyan, Dombivli, Diva, Vasai-Virar, Thane, Mulund, Bhandup. So Diva railway station is important to go to Konkan. Hence, Diva station is important for Konkani commuters from eastern, western suburbs of Mumbai and Thane district.
