One compartment of the Thane-bound train had caught fire at Dadar station's platform no. 1 around 9:30 pm. Fire fighters have successfully bought the fire under control but the services are hit.

According to the sources, fire broke around 9:30 am when the train was stationed at Dadar station's platform no. 1. It is being said that commuters witnessed smoke after which they vacated the train. It was then followed by fire. In no time, fire fighters and railway officials reached the spot.

This incident has affected the down line service and so the services have been stopped at Byculla. Slow down locals have been diverted to fast down line.

"It's a BHEL rake. There was a minor fire which was immediately brought under control. The coach was empty. The down slow traffic was diverted on down fast line. The affected train is now been cleared in 10 minutes and down slow traffic will also be restored on normal path," Sunil Udasi, CPRO, Central Railway.
