On Monday, Maharashtra transport minister Anil Parab proclaimed a “Diwali bhet” or a Diwali gift for the 93,000, Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees, highlighted reports.

Based on accounts, whilst officers will attain INR 5,000 respectively as a Diwali gift, the others will attain INR 2,500 for the festivity. Parab is also claimed to have stated that the dearness allowance (DA) for all the workers will be increased by 5 per cent, causing the numbers to increase from the current 12 per cent to 17 per cent.

Additionally, MSRTC employees will receive their salary for October on 1 November. Generally, they attain their pay on every month’s seventh.

In the midst of this, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has proclaimed an ex-gratia payment worth INR 15,500 to all of its employees that are nearly 10,000 in the numbers. Apart from them, they are also including the contractual staff before the approaching festivities.

Additionally, on Monday, October 25, the MSRTC undertook the decision to increase fares for all categories of its bus services, highlighted accounts. According to the MSRTC, these prices came into effect on midnight October 25 in which ticket prices were increased by a minimum of INR 5.

This is a one of its kind step, undertaken in the past three years in which the corporation decided to surge the ticket prices by 17.17 per cent.
