Since the unfortunate Elphinstone road stampede incident that took away 23 innocent lives, Western Railways has been undertaking several measures to revamp old and inefficient bridges at many railway stations across the city. The next project has already begun at Borivali Railway station. The Foot Over Bridge at Borivali station from platform no 7 to 10 will be kept closed until March 30, starting from March 15.

In order to ensure a better movement of the passengers, the Foot Over Bridge (FOB) on the north end of Borivali is being widened by constructing an additional 3-metre wide bridge adjacent to the existing FOB, which is also 3-metre wide. The existing FOB from platform no 8/9 and 10 towards east side will be closed as the roof and railings, trusses, floor and sheeting of existing FOB needs to be dismantled to match with the new FOB and for construction of flooring, railings, portals, trusses, painting and roof sheeting of FOB to make it 6 metre wide.

Signages of the same are being provided for the benefits of the commuters. Besides, the staircase at platform no. 8/9 and also the deck of the FOB from Platform no. 7 to 10 will be closed with placing barricades.
