The foot-over-bridge (FoB) at Western Railway’s Santacruz station which connects the eastern and the western ends will soon be opened for public use.

The bridge was closed after it was found hazardous and was under repair, which was happening at a snail's pace. The FoB was supposed to remain shut between September 11 and November 30. However, the repair work was delayed which raised concerns for many, on a daily basis. The passengers were earlier advised to use the middle bridge while the repair work for the bridge is ongoing. However, even this has now become congested and can potentially lead to another accident similar to the Elphinstone Road stampede.

Keeping the commuters' inconvenience in mind, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Vice President Akhil Chitre has voiced his concerns and interfered in the matter and has taken written assurance from the Railways that the bridge will be open for public use on December 31.
