India's leading low-cost carrier, IndiGo, has unveiled plans to launch daily direct flights connecting the bustling metropolis of Mumbai to the burgeoning pilgrimage destination of Ayodhya. This announcement positions IndiGo as the trailblazing airline that will establish the first-ever air link between the financial capital and Ayodhya, a town rapidly evolving into a major international pilgrimage center.

Flight Details and Strategic Expansion

Under this new route, travelers can book tickets for IndiGo flight 6E 5378, which is scheduled to depart from Mumbai daily at 12:30 pm, reaching Ayodhya at 2:45 pm. The return journey, flight 6E 5379, will take off from Ayodhya at 3:15 pm and touch down in Mumbai at 5:40 pm, according to the airline's flight schedule. IndiGo's strategic expansion plan further solidifies its position as a prominent player in the aviation industry. Earlier this month, on December 13, the airline made history by initiating flights connecting Ayodhya's Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram International Airport to the national capital, Delhi. This strategic move aligns with the government's ambitious plan to inaugurate the Ram temple and elevate Ayodhya to a prominent pilgrimage center for Hindus worldwide, with the temple inauguration slated for January 22.

IndiGo's commitment to aggressive expansion is evident as the airline is set to operate its inaugural flight on the Delhi-Ayodhya route on December 30, officially launching full commercial operations from January 6. In addition to the newly established Mumbai-Ayodhya connection, the airline has also announced plans to introduce flights from Ahmedabad to Ayodhya, commencing on January 11.

Air India Express Joins the Ayodhya Connection

IndiGo isn't the only airline expanding its reach to Ayodhya. On December 20, Air India Express, the budget subsidiary of the Air India group, made a significant announcement of its own. The airline revealed its plans to commence Delhi-Ayodhya flights, starting from December 30. Notably, Air India Express will also offer convenient one-stop itineraries connecting Ayodhya to a variety of destinations, including Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Kochi, Guwahati, Goa, Gwalior, Jaipur, Pune, Surat, Srinagar, and Sharjah.

In addition to this expansion, Air India Express recently etched its name in the annals of aviation history by becoming the first airline to operate a direct flight from Surat to Dubai. This milestone achievement coincided with the inauguration of the new international terminal at Surat International Airport, showcasing the airline's commitment to connecting passengers to international destinations.
