Post-April 22, 2018, one will be able to fly to Kolhapur, thanks to Air Deccan who have now added Kolhapur to their destinations after connecting Nashik and Jalgaon under the regional connectivity scheme.
Air Deccan has opened flight bookings offering a promotional fare of ₹1299 for the 90-minute flight and the regular fare will be capped at ₹1970. The Mumbai-Kolhapur flight has been scheduled at 01:15 pm on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the return flight will depart from Kolhapur at 3:05 pm.
Apart from this, Air Deccan had also demanded additional three slots from Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) to start operations six days a week, but MIAL hasn’t agreed to it yet.
As per the regional connectivity scheme Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN), airlines are offering 50 per cent seats of its aircraft capacity at subsidised fares set by the Centre, while the rest of the seats will be sold at the market price. Accordingly, nine seats will be offered at the regular fare while remaining nine seats of 18-seater Beechcraft aircraft will be sold between ₹2000 and ₹4000.
Usually, it takes more than six hours by road to reach Kolhapur and an overnight journey by train. But with the help of a flight, one will reach Kolhapur in an hour and a half.
