The Central Government recently announced that domestic flight services in the country would resume partially from May 25, 2020, however, as per recent developments, the state government of Maharashtra said that the officials here have not taken the decision to resume flight operations, further confirming that the lockdown in Maharashtra will continue until May 31, 2020.

Adding further, officials mentioned that there is 'no change in policy' and the decision was made by the Centre without consulting with the state. Hence, the Maharashtra government has asked for some time to decide the same and will take a decision post the discussion with the centre, as the lockdown protocols will have to be considered for flight operations in the city.

On the other hand, sources close to the centre have stated that all the states were consulted earlier and no changes can be considered now, as bookings have begun for the flights and many from the city are planning to travel on Monday, May 25, 2020.

After the Union Minister for Civil Aviation Hardeep Puri announced this, Airport Authorities across all the states were asked to prepare the operations. Communication regarding necessary arrangements, sanitisation and other protocols were made in advance.
