On Monday, the state home department proclaimed a notification, permitting private buses, as well as, school buses and company buses to ply as public transport vehicles, highlighted reports. They have been asked to offer their services to passengers throughout Maharashtra in light of the strike and protest initiated by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) workers.

Based on accounts, the notification issued by the authority will remain in force until the MSRTC union calls off their strike, with which their drivers and conductors will resume work.

The state government has instituted a government resolution to constitute a committee to look into the demands made by the MSRTC employees. A high-level three-member committee will be spearheaded by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte. The committee will also include the Additional Chief Secretary of the Finance Department, Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department, as well as, the MD of the MSRTC as the coordinator of the panel.

Taking the Bombay High Court order into cognizance, the state government formed the panel to hear the demands of the 28 MSRTC union. The employees have been demanded that they be treated as state government employees. Therefore, a significant number of employees have been on a strike since October 27.
