The Maharashtra government has proclaimed a government resolution to form a committee to address the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MRSTC) employee demands. The three-member committee will be headed by Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte. Apart from him, it will entail Additional Chief Secretary of finance department, Additional Chief Secretary of transport department, MD of the MSRTC as the coordinator of the panel, highlighted reports,

On Monday morning, bus operations at 223 depots of the MSRTC were non-operational owing to the strike of the employees over the demand for the merger of the corporation with the Maharashtra government, highlighted officials, stated reports.

Certain MSRTC employees haven’t been coming to duty since October 28. In the Mumbai region of the MSRTC, from 45, 14 depots were functional on Monday. The state government had also informed the Bombay High Court that it will constitute a special committee spearheaded by the Chief Secretary to address the problem of the employees.

Based on reports, employees of the MSRTC have been on a strike since midnight of November 3-4. This development had come when on Saturday, the HC questioned the government to elucidate the composition of the committee by the next hearing date. It is stated that the MSRTC staffers seek to be treated like state government employees.

The Bombay High Court elaborated that the committee should hear the parties and give its recommendation to the state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
