On Monday, the state government proclaimed a toll waiver for private vehicles operating towards Konkan for the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, highlighted reports.

The said waiver is set to come into force two days before the 10-day festivity which commences on September 10 and two days post it.

Amid the approaching festivity, the home department, public works department and district administration conducted a meeting, to see to it that the travel into Konkan for the devotees is seamless.

To avail of the said waiver, Minister Eknath Shinde elaborated that, drivers will have to record their information at the toll booths where they will be provided with a sticker. This sticker will enable them to move through all the toll booths without having to pay the toll.

According to reports, more personalle will have to be stationed across toll booths on various highways in Maharashtra that include Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Goa and Pune-Satara, to name a few to help the travellers.

The minister has also urged the respective authorities to see to it that work on repairs on these highways is finished in two days. Additionally, ambulances, quick responses vehicles and other such emergency vehicles should be utilized in the unfortunate case of an incident.
