The Mumbai Rail Development Corporation (MRVC) has taken up a major project to upgrade the infrastructure of Mira Road station. With an estimated total cost of ₹90 crore, the station redevelopment initiative aims to enhance the passenger experience and accommodate the ever-increasing footfall in this suburban hub. The work is currently in full swing and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

The improvement plan includes a wider foot over bridge (FoB), additional escalators, lifts and wider platforms owing to increasing crowd at the railway station.

Sunil Udasi, Chief Public Relations Officer, MRVC said, “Due to the continuous operation of railway services during the day, work can be done only in limited hours at night. Despite these setbacks, we will strive to complete the project and give the station a makeover by the end of December 2025."

The specific plan includes widening platform number one from 6 meters to 10 meters, constructing a 240-metre-long and 10.50-metre-wide deck on platform number one and providing five escalators and three lifts. Apart from this, 10 meters wide and 65 meters long foot over bridge, 23 meters wide and 50 meters long foot over bridge will be constructed. The project also includes construction of office space for station manager, deputy station manager, various other offices and a rest house, said an MRVC official.

Substantial improvement in overall infrastructure

The redevelopment of the station will significantly improve the overall infrastructure and passenger experience. Due to the diligent efforts of MRVC and its dedicated staff, passengers can expect a more modern, efficient and comfortable railway station in two years.
