Good news for Ulhasnagar residents! MMRDA to extend Metro 5 to Ulhasnagar

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to extend the 'Thane - Bhiwandi - Kalyan Metro 5' route to Ulhasnagar via Khadakpada. Kalyan - Khadakpada and Khadakpada - Ulhasnagar 7.7 km extended route will be constructed in two phases. A consultant has to be appointed to prepare a comprehensive plan for this route. The proposal in this regard will be placed for approval in the upcoming meeting of the MMRDA authority.

A metro network of 337 km length is being woven in Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region and one of the metro lines currently under construction is 'Metro 5'. This route is 24.9 km long and it is expected to cost INR 8,416 crore. This route includes 17 metro stations and the Thane-Kalyan journey will be super fast due to this route. The work of this route is going on in two phases and approximately 71 percent of the first phase Thane – Bhiwandi has been completed till February. The work of Bhiwandi – Kalyan second phase will start in the next few days. Now it has been decided to extend this route to Ulhasnagar. The same has been confirmed by Metropolitan Commissioner S. V. R. Srinivas.


Ulhasnagar is an industrial city
Ulhasnagar is an industrial city and a large number of heavy goods vehicles come here every day. A large number of citizens come here to buy clothes and furniture. So it is crowded with people and vehicles. Keeping this in mind, MMRDA has decided to extend Metro 5 to Ulhasnagar. This decision has been taken as per the demand of people's representatives in Ulhasnagar and on the orders of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

MMRDA decided to extend route to Ulhasnagar 
According to this decision, the total length of this extension is 7.7 km from Kalyan – Khadakpada and Khadakpada – Ulhasnagar. The MMRDA has decided to prepare a comprehensive plan for this extended metro line. For this, the appointment of a consultant will be considered and a proposal has been prepared. This proposal will be presented in the upcoming meeting of the authority. If this proposal is approved, further action will be taken to take metro to Ulhasnagar.


'Wadala - Thane - Kasarvadvali Metro 4' will be connected with 'Metro 5' 
In future, CSMT to Ulhasnagar high speed travel is being connected by MMRDA Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Metro. If 'Metro 5' is extended to Ulhasnagar, one can travel by metro from CSMT - Ulhasnagar and this distance can be covered very quickly. The lines 'Wadala - CSMT Metro 11', 'Wadala - Thane - Kasarvadvali Metro 4' will be connected with 'Metro 5' and the extended line of 'Metro 5'.
