The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has passed a tender to install seating arrangements for commuters on all 17 stations of monorail. The cost to install seats is estimated at ₹43.61 lakhs.

The Monorail will add more rakes to increase the frequency of trains. But the construction process will take another year to complete. Currently, as the frequency is less, passengers have to wait for a minimum of 30 minutes till another train comes. Therefore, seating arrangements on the stations will now be installed for commuters convenience.

As stated in the Free Press Journal, an MMRDA official stated that the reason for not providing seating arrangements is that passengers are expected to vacate the premises as soon as they de-board the trains. This will, in turn, reduce overcrowding at stations.
