The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has reportedly threatened to suspend additional employees since a mere 7,541 of the aggregate 92,266 employees reported back to work on Thursday, November, 18, stated reports.

During the protest, NGOs were providing protestors with basic necessities with food and water. Based on an official statement, on Thursday, till 8 pm, nearly 144 buses functioned, enabling 3,518 passengers to travel.

Last week, over 2,000 employees were suspended. In the aftermath of this, the body has proclaimed notices to nearly 2,000 more this week. They have been asked to report back to work as promptly as possible.

Based on reports, officials reported that 2,296 of the 2,584 daily wage workers were given notices. They were asked to report back to work within 24 hours or sustain termination of services. It was added that the government was willing to offer protection to those who came back to work.

Considering that all of the 250 bus depots were closed, the passengers are bearing the brunt. From October 28, MSRTC employees went on strike, demanding the corporation’s merger with the Maharashtra government.
