Preparations have been started to connect Mumbai with the adjoining areas around the city. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is working on the 43 km long Versova-Virar Sea Link project along the west coast of Mumbai. However, in the meantime, there is another piece of good news for the residents of Mira Bhayandar. The plans of developing a passenger water transport system connecting Uttan to Mumbai and other facilities like harbour cruise in Bhayandar are finally taking shape.

MLA Geeta Jain held a meeting with Amit Saini, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra Maritime Board. In this meeting, Jain highlighted the need of waterways as a mode of transport as traffic congestion has increased due to vehicles on roads. She asked the authortiries concerned to speed up the water-taxi project which has been mooted between Bhayandar and Bandra Sea-Link. It is expected that this waterway will become operational within eight months, said Jain.

Jain was accompanied by city engineer- Deepak Khambit and other senior officials in the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC).
