Mumbai division of Central Railway (CR) has taken an initiative to provide comfort space to breastfeeding women during their commute.
For this, railways have announced the installation of 13 state-of-the-art Nursing Pods at seven major railway stations. These dedicated spaces will be set up under National Initiative for Feeding and Resting Infrastructure for Stations (NINFRIS) policy.
It will be located at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Dadar, Thane, Kalyan, Panvel and Lonavala stations.
Each nursing pod will have various facilities such as comfortable cushioned seating, a diaper changing station, fan, lights and a dustbin. These facilities will be maintained by a licensed service provider.
To ensure that these nursing pods are economically sustainable, advertisements will be displayed by licensees alongside each pod for the entire duration of the contract. These ads will not only help generate revenue for maintenance but will also be presented in an attractive manner.
