In a latest development, it has come to light that the Versova - Andheri - Ghatkopar metro services will not operate on Thursday evening, January 19 causing inconvenience to the office-goers commuting on this route.

This move came as the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take a ride on Metro Line 7 during his visit to Mumbai for inauguration of various projects. Therefore, due to security and administrative reasons, Metro Line 1 services will remain suspended for a period of one and a half hours.

It is pertinent to note that this is the evening peak hour when a substantial number of passengers continue to either go to Andheri or Ghatkopar stations.

Releasing an official statement, Mumbai Metro One Private Limited said: "On 19th January 2023 (Thursday) metro services will not be available from 05:45 pm to 07:30 pm due to operational and administrative reasons. We request our commuters to plan their travel accordingly."

In addition to this, there will also be traffic diversions in place for security measures causing difficulty for motorists to reach their destinations on time owing to traffic jams and/or take longer routes.

On Thursday evening, PM Modi will take a ride from Gundavli metro station on the Western Express Highway (WEH) to Mogra Metro Station and return to head to MMRDA Grounds in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).

Besides, the Mumbai police has appealed to offices in BKC to allow all staff to leave offices early, starting 12 noon on the day of the event so that there are no traffic issues, and to minimise the effect of all restrictions.
