Mumbai-Kolkata Vistara Flight Experiences Severe Turbulence; Three Injured

A Vistara flight travelling from Mumbai to Kolkata on Monday witnessed severe turbulence prior to landing, resulting in the injury of three passengers. The turbulence occurred around 15 minutes prior to landing as per a Vistara spokesperson quoted by PTI. 

This Boeing 737 flight had a total of 113 passengers, while the injured were taken to medical facilities after landing. Officials said that the three passengers were reviewed at an airport medical unit before being taken to the hospital.

One of the injured passengers has already been discharged from the hospital, while the other two are still receiving treatment in two different hospitals. 

“A 61-year-old passenger received fracture in her right hand and is being shifted to Belle Vue hospital. A 77-year-old passenger received a spinal tenderness injury and he is admitted to Charnock hospital. The third passenger, 36, received a minor cut on forehead and has been released after first aid,” a spokesperson from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said. 

“We are investigating the incident on priority, and will share a further update at the earliest,” the DGCA added.
