As there has been a gradual rise in the ridership, Mumbai Metro One, which runs between Versova- Andheri – Ghatkopar, rail operator increased its services starting February 1.

As per reports, 18 more trips have been introduced with improved frequency to handle increased load of passengers. With this, the services have increased to 398 from 380.

This development came after Metro 1 (Blue line) crossed the 4 lakh ridership mark for the first time on January 24, owing to the launch of Metro 2A and 7 lines.

For those unversed, Metro one intersects these lines at DN Nagar station on Line 2A and Western Express Highway on Line 7.

In addition to this, the metro operators also improved train frequency during peak hours from nearly 4 minutes to 3 minutes 40 seconds which will immensely help to decongest Ghatkopar Metro Station further.

However, during off-peak hours train services will continue to be available at a frequency of 5-8 minutes.

As per data revealed by the metro operators, the Versova-Ghatkopar route is currently carrying more than 1 crore commuters monthly and more than 400,000 commuters on weekdays.

Meanwhile, with the opening of (Line 2A & 7) Metro lines, daily ridership of DN Nagar and WEH has improved by 8,000 and 6,000 respectively.

It is pertinent to note that Mumbai Metro One services are available from 05:30 am from both Versova and Ghatkopar and the last train from Versova departs at 11:20 pm and from Ghatkopar at 11.45 pm.
