According to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the first phase of the Metro Line 9 route is expected to be operational by the end of next year.

This 10.58 km-long line will connect Mumbai to Mira-Bhayandar. The project will be completed in two phases, first from Dahisar (E) to Kashigaon and from then on out to Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium.

This metro line will have two interchange metro stations—first at Dahisar (E) with an interchange for Gundavali to Dahisar (E) on Metro 7 and Andheri (W) to Dahisar (E) on Metro 2A. The second interchange is at Miragaon metro station with Metro Line 10 (Gaimukh to Shivaji Chowk).

This is estimated to reduce the current travel time by 50-75% depending on road conditions. Moreover, it is expected to reduce the traffic congestion on Dahisar check naka and bring relief among daily commuters and office-goers.

There is also a possibility that the line will be extended by 1.5-2 km till Uttan, where a separate piece of land is being looked at for vehicle shed.

Initially, they would require 3 to 4 rakes to open the first phase of the line. The deadline for the entire corridor is December 2025.

Meanwhile, the MMRDA recently stated that that the construction of Meditiya Nagar station is now 63.63 per cent complete. One of the tallest stations on Metro 9, the station will have three levels: a vehicular flyover on level one, a concourse on level two and platforms on third level.

The station will rise 35 meters above street level overall. Eight stations are present and 51% of the station work has been completed.
