The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMMOCL) shared a post on social media on April 23 to inform that they will now be able to book their metro tickets on Rapido through the ONDC app.
Rapido has launched the Mumbai Metro ticket booking facility on its app, providing commuters with a faster and cashless alternative to traditional queues.
The integration includes Metro lines 2A, 2B, 7 and 9, which will allow commuters to instantly generate QR-based tickets and access stations without waiting in queues.
The service has been launched through the 'Open Network for Digital Commerce' (ONDC), which has brought multiple mobility platforms under a unified digital ecosystem.
To encourage users to switch to the digital ticketing system, Rapido has introduced limited-time offers.
New users can get their first metro ride for free up to Rs 50, while existing users can get a 50 percent discount on their first metro ticket, with a maximum of Rs 10.
The process is very simple, users just open the app, select their metro route, book a QR ticket and start their journey, eliminating the need for cash or physical tokens.
A post on the official handle of MMMOCL said that the initiative builds on the earlier launch of India's first common mobility platform, 'Mumbai One App'.
Since December, metro services have been integrated with ONDC, enabling access across multiple applications.
Currently, Maha Mumbai Metro ticket booking is available on over 16 platforms, including popular apps like Uber and WhatsApp. More platforms are expected to be added in the coming months.
