On Thursday mid-night, around 3:30 am, a Seating/Luggage Rake (SLR) coach of Madurai express derailed near Maharashtra's Khandala area. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but few long-distance trains were cancelled. This affected commuters who were returning to Mumbai.
The affected coach was detached around 5:45 am from the train and services were resumed within an hour. However, it affected the traffic on the Mumbai-Pune route. The locals were running approximately half an hour late.
Long-distance trains coming towards Mumbai which were cancelled on both up and down line are Sinhagad Express, Pragati Express, Karjat-Pune passenger. Likewise, Pune-Bhusawal Express, Manmad-Pune have been diverted towards Daund.
