Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is planning to set up 50 Electric Vehicle charging stations across the state. The stations will help charge 4,000 electric vehicles registered in Maharastra since April 2017.

We have planned electric vehicle charging points on the 94-km-long Mumbai-Pune Expressway, providing both, fast and slow charging for electric vehicles,” MSEDCL Chairman and Managing Director Sanjeev Kumar informed.

MSEDCL officials informed that tenders for 50 stations will be issued in five major cities and on Pune-Mumbai Expressway. It further informed that the first phase of this project will be completed in the next two months and the installation cost of each station is about ₹3 to ₹4 lakh.

Till 2020, MSEDCL plans to install 500 stations across Maharashtra under National Mobility Mission. In Mumbai, Tata Power initiated EC charging stations at nine locations including Vikhroli, Matunga, Bandra-Kurla Complex, Bhandup, Chembur, Malad, Lower Parel, and Borivali.
