The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has proclaimed that it will operate the open deck double-decker heritage tour buses until midnight Saturday, March 19 onwards, stated reports. This has reportedly been done to address the demand from tourists as well as other passengers, cited accounts.
Based on a narrative by the Times of India, Lokesh Chandra, BEST elaborated on how almost 500 tourists had chosen the heritage tours at the weekend recently. He added that they have received bookings from a private operator for two buses for out of station tourists.
Chandra further elucidated that considering the heat presently, the demand for such buses during the evening hours post-sunset is higher.
Earlier last month, the BEST had announced to start the open-deck double-decker Hop On Hop Off services. The passengers can hop on and hop off the bus as many times as they want while visiting various tourist spots en route. These buses will ply with a frequency of 30 mins.
According to reports, the halt points include CSMT, Byculla zoo, Siddhivinayak Temple, Bandstand Bandra, Juhu Garden, Juhu Chowpatty, Nehru Planetarium, Mani Bhavan, Aquarium, Hanging Garden, Museum and Gateway of India.
In other developments, the BEST is looking to introduce 25 new bus services on Dahisar-Andheri route of the Metro 2A Line Route.
