Mumbai – The city's dabbawala association too has backed the Wadala Citizens' Vigilance Committee's demand for the Dadar East Monorail station to be named Vitthal Mandir station.

“We have sent the letter to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and guardian minister Subhash Desai,” said Subhash Talekar, president of the dabbawala association.

“We are warkaris (pilgrims who trek to Pandharpur, home to the original Vithal mandir) and so we support the decision of naming it as the Vitthal Mandir monorail station. If railways can name a station after Ram, then why they can’t name the monorail station after Vitthal mandir?” Talekar questions.

The Wadala Citizens' Vigilance Committee members have begun an indefinite protest demanding that the proposed Dadar East monorail station be renamed as Vitthal Mandir monorail station.
