On Thursday, December 31, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal asserted that the online ticket booking site of the Indian Railways, IRCTC, has got an upgrade which will permit passengers to book tickets without any inconveniences.

The Railway Minister had earlier reviewed the upgrade that was being worked for the e-ticketing system. The Minister sought for the e-ticketing website to provide holistic convenience to the passengers for their train journey due to which the railways worked tirelessly to enhance user personalization and facilitation of their e-ticketing website, along with enhanced features and simple design.

According to sources, the speed of ticket booking will also increase after the IRCTC website is upgraded. Passengers will be able to book tickets faster than before. Also, other amenities, such as food and drinks will be available for booking through the IRCTC's website. As per railway officials, after 2014, along with ticket booking, the emphasis is being laid on providing better facilities to the passengers. Back in 2018, it was updated with personalized features like checking of train availability without the need to log in, probability of confirmation etc. This time, those features have been made easy to access.

The IRCTC website is the first point of contact for railway passengers. Under the new Digital India, more and more people are now flocking to book tickets online instead of going to the reservation window.
