In the wake of rising molestation cases, the Khatua Committee has ordered Uber, OLA, kali-peeli cabs and auto rickshaws to install panic buttons within six months.

In the last few months, many such cases have come to light in Mumbai, where either an OLA or Uber driver was found misbehaving with female passengers. TV celeb Mallika Dua too shared her story on a social networking website.

As per the report published in DNA, the committee mentioned that the panic buttons will be GPS-based which will help to locate the vehicle in case of an accident and help a passenger in distress.

The committee has roped in Regional Transport Authority (RTO) who will not issue permits to new public transport who do not have panic buttons.
