The surge price is twice the normal fare for the very few cabs which were available in the morning, while close to 90 per cent cabs are still off roads
For the last three days, Mumbaikars have been facing the brunt of strike carried out by cab aggregators Ola and Uber. Due to which, passengers are being forced to travel by public transport. On Wednesday, the driver partners have a meeting with the union leaders following which they will take a call on next course of action, said a union member.
On Monday, Ola and Uber drivers staged a protest outside Uber’s office in Kurla demanding to increase the minimum fare and charge per km but nothing of that sort happened. Hence, from Monday mid-night, drivers went on an indefinite strike.
Drivers are of the demand that the minimum fare should be between ₹100 and ₹150 and per km fare should be between ₹18 and ₹23. They also want the company to stop buying new vehicles and to give preference to existing vehicles.
