RTI reveals Metro-3 farce

RTI reveals Metro-3 farce

The ambitious Metro-3 project connecting Colaba-Bandra-Seepz has been started to release the pressure on suburban routes as well as roads by connecting major railway stations. But an RTI query by Zoru Bathena has revealed something else. As per the RTI, out of the 27 stations on the metro-3 routes, only 3 have been connected to suburban railway stations.

Suburban railway stations of Churchgate, CST and Mumbai Central are the only ones which are connected to the Metro-3 network. Bathena claims that this is a big farce as the project will not deliver on promises being made.

The Metro-3 project was envisaged way back in 1991. That time Colaba, Churchgate and CST were the major hubs. But later areas like BKC, MIDC, Andheri and other areas have become major city centres. Bathena challenged saying how can you implement a project in 2017 which was planned with the 1991 context? He added that this would be a major failure as passengers will not be benefited.
