In preparation for the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, more than 260 special train services have been announced by Central and Western Railway authorities to accommodate the surge in travel demand. A total of 262 trains will be operated, with 192 services being managed by Central Railway and the remaining 70 by Western Railway. These services are scheduled to run across high-traffic routes along the Konkan corridor.

According to officials, trains operated by Central Railway will connect Mumbai with popular destinations such as Sawantwadi Road, Kudal, Ratnagiri, and Pernem. Departures have been scheduled from key city terminals including Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Dadar, Panvel, Thane, and Pune. The routes will be supported by additional halts and adjusted schedules to better suit festive travel patterns.

As per the details provided, the planned services include 40 trains between LTT and Sawantwadi Road, 36 to Kudal, 24 to Ratnagiri, and another 24 between Panvel and Kudal. Other scheduled services include 20 between Panvel and Sawantwadi Road, 18 between Dadar and Ratnagiri, eight each from Thane to Kudal and Sawantwadi Road, eight between LTT and Pernem, and six from Pune to Sawantwadi Road.

Western Railway has arranged for 70 special trains aimed at serving routes connecting Bandra Terminus and Valsad with key Konkan and Goan towns. These include 26 services between Bandra Terminus and Madgaon, 22 between Valsad and Sawantwadi Road, and another 22 between Valsad and Kudal.

These trains are being offered with special festival fares. Bookings have already been made available through the IRCTC website and all computerised reservation counters. Passengers have been advised to refer to official sources such as the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app and the Indian Railways websites for the latest information on train timings and intermediate halts.

Railway authorities have urged passengers to avoid last-minute bookings and to plan their journeys in advance. Cooperation from commuters has been requested, especially during boarding and deboarding at high-traffic stations along the Konkan route. Measures have been taken to ensure that the operations proceed smoothly during the peak festive period.
