The Western Railway administration which had resumed the AC locals after launching locomotives for the essential service personnel has observed passengers responding less to the AC locals leading to only 11 tickets and 29 passes being sold in the first 3 days of AC local on Western Railways.

In order to prevent the rapid spread of the coronavirus, the government had earlier instructed the government and private offices to keep the AC system in private vehicles off or to control its temperature. The AC local service on the Trans Harbour of the Western and Central Railways had also been shut down since March following the coronavirus-induced lockdown. The AC local service, which had been closed for the last six months, finally resumed on October 15 on the Western Railway.

On the first day of the service, 8 tickets and 6 one-month passes were issued whereas, on October 16, one ticket and 12 passes were sold. Even on October 17, there was little response. Moreover, the Western Railways informed that 2 tickets and 11 passes went on sale. Thus, a total of 11 tickets and 29 passes were sold.

As per reports, approximately 300 passengers were reported to have travelled on October 15. The math of the dice is presented differently by the railways. A pass holder will travel up and down 50 times in a month. That is 50 passengers. If 6 passes have been issued on October 15, then the calculation is that a total of 300 passengers will travel daily in a month from then onwards.
