Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inaugurating the Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express on September 30 during his two-day visit to Gujarat. PM Modi will be visiting Gujarat on September 29-30.

Mumbai Live had earlier reported about the probability of inauguration of the train after route trial of the train was successfully conducted between Ahmedabad and Mumbai on Friday, September 9.

On September 30, at around 10:30 am, PM Modi will flag off Gandhinagar- Mumbai Vande Bharat Express at Gandhinagar station and travel on the train from there to Kalupur Railway Station.

Meanwhile, the IRCTC has said that the competing Vande Bharat train would eat into the revenue of the Tejas Express running between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The Railways is scheduled to manufacture 75 Vande Bharat trains by August 2023.

Later, at around 11:30 am, Prime Minister will flag off the Ahmedabad Metro rail project and will take a metro ride from Kalupur station to Doordarshan Kendra metro station. At around 12 noon, Prime Minister will inaugurate Phase-I of Ahmedabad Metro project at a public function at Ahmedabad Education Society in Ahmedabad.

A railway official, who monitored the trial run, exclaimed that distance between Ahmedabad and Mumbai (492 km) was covered by the train in just in 5.10 hours with the average speed of 95.1 kmph. Meanwhile, in return direction train took the time of just 4.45 hours with an average speed of 105 kmph.

Besides, for infotainment, each passenger would be provided content on demand facility for viewing their preferred shows. All seats in the Executive class and non-Executive class are equipped with reclining chairs to provide riding comforts to passengers.

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad inter-city route has been selected keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers returning in the morning and returning in the evening.
