The railways are the lifeline of the city, and millions in Mumbai rely on this system for their daily commute.
Services on the central railway line came to a halt, due to an unexpected agitation and a rail roko protest by the students appearing for the railway examinations. This has affected the commuters since 7:00 AM. The police took to their lathis inorder to clear the track and injured some of the students.
With regards to some disapproval, the students took down the railway tracks to stop the ongoing trains.
Talking about the same, Central Railway's CPRO Sunil Udasi confirmed that more details about the whole issue will be disclosed at a brief meeting scheduled at 9.30 AM. He further added that applicants can send their forms until March 31 for the positions and the examination would be conducted shortly.
Owing to this, the BEST managers have been instructed to run extra buses today.
