In a good news to Mumbaikars, the city might soon get a new Terminus in the suburbs.

According to reports, the new outstation train terminus will be built at Jogeshwari. It will come up on the eastern side of the tracks, between Ram Mandir and Jogeshwari stations. It will accommodate 24-car trains on two sides where trains will terminate.

This will be constructed at a cost of INR 69 crores. For which, the railway ministry gave permissions on May 12.

Moreover, it is likely to benefit several commuters in the suburbs on Western, Central and Trans-harbour line as it will be connected to the metro and local trains. This will certainly make commute easier for people residing in western suburbs especially between Andheri to Virar.

Explaining further in detail, an official said that the station will be accessible from the Western Express Highway (WEH), besides it will be well connected by suburban and Metro lines like Line 7 (Andheri to Dahisar via Highway) and Line 6 (Lokhandwala-Vikhroli), which being an east-west corridor has connectivity with eastern suburbs too.

With this, the WR plans to shift 12 trains from Mumbai Central and Bandra terminals to Jogeshwari. It will have an island platform that will handle two trains simultaneously, added WR Chief PRO.

Reports stated that it might be ready and thrown open for passengers by 2025.

Initially, the long-distance trains from Jogeshwari Terminal will run towards Gujarat and later ease travel to Konkan and southern India.
