It is widely known that Mumbai Local is the lifeline of the city as it is used by millions on daily basis. However, due to COVID-19 crisis, the local services have been shut for the general public since the lockdown. Due to this, the commuters are facing a lot of trouble as they have to use other alternatives to travel which are not just time-consuming but also costly.

Now, the Passengers' Association has warned of agitation at the railway headquarters. The Railway Passengers’ Association is constantly demanding justice for these commuters and urged on resumption of local services as soon as possible.

“With an increase in the price of fuel, the monthly expenses have increased and the pockets of the passengers have been slashed. Therefore, privatization will further aggravate the already financially troubled citizens. The common people are in a mix due to tussle between railway authorities and the state government,” said Nandkumar Deshmukh, president of the Suburban Railway Passengers Federation. He further stated that a meeting will be held with railway officials on Wednesday, January 27, where we have decided to come together and discuss the issue with the railway authorities to start the train.

Meanwhile, the central railway administration said that it is waiting for formal approval from the Maharashtra government that had some concerns, hinting at a graded reopening of train operations in the state.
