The Railway Police have commenced mock drills and training to curb the instances of alleged sabotage on railway tracks in and around Mumbai.

The past few weeks have seen an increasing number of instances in which rods and sleepers were placed on the tracks with an intention to derail trains, particularly on the  Central Railway. In order to bring down such acts, railway police are gearing up and conducting mock drills. They have started  training officers to locate such rods. “We have received 75 reports and on the basis of it, we are doing track patrolling. While doing it, we also look out for possible suspects. Also, we are trying to make commuters alert and aware about suspicious activities," Railway Police DSP Deepak Devraj told Mumbai Live.

A mock drill was organised on Wednesday by GRP officials at Borivali. During the mock drill, police asked the commuters not to panic in case of such  incidents and to cooperate with the police.
