RGPPL to give electricity to CR

As Indian Railways have earned profit this year, railways are thinking to go further with their plans. Central Railways have joined hands with Ratnagiri Gas and Power Private Ltd (RGPPL) and for five years, RGPPL will provide electricity at cheap rates. This is going to help CR to save Rs. 2,500 crores. Railway minister Suresh Prabhu and union power minister Piyush Goyal planning to save Rs. 41,000 crore by 2025.

Untill now, CR was buying electricity from MSEDCL for which they were charged Rs. 9 per unit. However, RGPPL will be charging Rs. 5.50 per unit.

RGPPL power will be used post Kalyan station and from August month, this will be used between CST and Kalyan. Currently, CR will be using 77% of RGPPL’s electricity and from August, 100% electricity will be used.
